I remember in an old ur-quattro brochure the copy described how the car was "equally at home towing a horse trailer up an alpine pass". Seemed odd then, even more so now. I've also got a copy of a TR6 ad which shows the car towing a speedboat which, IIRC, is about twice the size of the car.

Put it this way though... let's say you had to tow a caravan (and no "but I would never tow a caravan")... let's say it's for a dirty weekend with VBH and Kylie , just the three of you in a caravan on the coast, with a few litres of champagne and mobil-1... pistonhead heaven...

...oh, back on topic... let's say you HAD to tow a caravan. Wouldn't you rather use a Scooby than a Volvo? I know I would!

Just a thought. Adam, did it have a Pistonheads sticker, and were Kylie and VBH navigating?

If he was letting a woman navigate, he'll need a kip in the caravan before they even get to their location.

Sorry, bit sexist, but far too many women can't navigate.

At least if it were Kylie and VBH the compensations would speak for themselves

Theres no excuse for towing a caravan, none at all, well, perhaps if it was destined to go off a cliff and contained the entire labour party then I could see that as being a valid case otherwise the damned things are just a huge box of matchsticks waiting to be created.

Ok, reality now. This is part of the type approval for all new Vipers. Whilst some people consider the Viper to be a sports car they are in fact the prototype for the new American mini juggernaught (sic). The chassis and engine is taken from an old lorry design and as such the car is required to clock 40 hours a month towing a trailer.

Once the initial tests are considered satisfactory the boot will be removed to reveal the fifth wheel and a low-line 4 wheel trailer hooked up allowing US based companies to make deliveries to malls with height restrictions such as multi storey car parks.

I've seen a Lancia Integrale towing a caravan and a Morgan towing a big glider trailer.

I remember a clarkson video which showed an Overfinch-tuned Range Rover racing a Ford focus.

It beat the Focus by miles.

Then they attached a trailer to the range rover, put another ford focus on the trailer, and repeated the race.

The Range Rover still won by miles

I'm entirely with Plotloss on this.

There's no excuse, no mitigation, no sound reasoning, if you're pulling a shed, you're in everyone's way, you're an utter twat and you need to be rammed off the road by something large and unwielding.

What you say? What if it were my dad or brother? Well, then the above applies doubly because of the guilt by association inflicted upon me
