Normally the best of the Masterchef formats and if last years is anything to go by, a very, very high level of contestant.

Watched the Professionals last year for the first time and genuinely thought it was brilliant, enjoyed it more than the amateurs which is also pretty good.

They all finish cooking at the same time but the food is tasted one by one... Wouldn't it be unfair for the last person as by the time they come to him/her their food would be cold...

I realise that it's random ... But was just wondering that...

I was reading an article about iron chef saying that its cleverly edited and that they cook two meals, one for the cameras and one for tasting, I was watching for this kind of thing in masterchef.

Particularly cooking with something likes quid, it's not worth eating after its been standing for 5 minutes and cold, I reckon they must stagger the timings slightly and do the walking up to the judge shots separately?

Can't believe the poor standard this series, the amateurs were better!

With regard to filming. The cooking, tasting and filming is nothing like the sequence in the programme. My head chef was on Masterchef a few years back and he said it was quite relaxed and a good atmosphere. Nothing like the televised programme.

I'd imagine any chef worth his salt is busy and cannot afford to take the time off.

But the prize is a job in a M* kitchen so very tempting for a young sous chef. Issue is, if you do win you are contracted to BBC for appearances, publicity etc etc for which you do not get paid. When James (my HC) didn;t get through to the finals his old boss was very happy as he had initially looked at as free advertising for him, not realising he would lose a chef in the process,

Anyway, this version of MC is great with one spectacular exception. Monica. Hateful.

An OK first week, some very poor standards and silly mistakes. The two guys that went through were good, the inexperience showed in the two young girls.

I like Monica, she has chilled out a bit over the years, she even smiles now!!

I've been posting in the thread in the tv forum about this, brilliant program. Anything with MRJ in it is worth a watch imo.

Carl and James were excellent, neither was perfect on every dish, but they really did show some brilliant food.

These guys are utter ste, they don't come close to the standard of some of the amateurs they've had on master chef, in the last couple of seasons. They have got rid of the worst of them, how that tub of guts had the audacity to call himself a 'chef' is beyond me .

Catching up with this weeks episodes, wow the old Monica is back, that was a scathing put down for Thomas in Mondays episode!!!
