the GT3. Its sat in the garage for the last three months and has only done around 200 miles in that time, mainly to Byfleet and back. As I've got a bit older, its become too noisy, too harsh and too impractical to use whenever I feel like it and its never going to be a good car for up in the Dales or in Cornwall. So its going.

I'm toying very seriously with a CLK55 which will be fast, noisy and fun, and a damn sight more practical, if not more economical (and I have posted on the MB forum too) but what alternatives can you come up with. I want to put some cash in the bank and buy a car for not much - say £7500 - to use and enjoy. Running costs aren't an issue.

I've had a 944 turbo and that was fun but a 968 doesn't really appeal. Boxter is a possibility but there is always the motor issue to consider. 928 is too silly to consider. So what lese can you suggest, Porsche or otherwise?

Oh, and not Italian thank you..................

...and I can't edit the title so you'll have to live with it...

I live near the Dales (and drive there regularly) and am from Cornwall. Why can't you use a GT3 in these places?

Cayenne fits the budget (just about) and is a lot more forgiving on potholed roads.

Too low and too much front overhang. Its OK on the main roads but once you get off those the car will ground at quite low speeds. I like to go down little roads with grass in the middle and these tend to come as extremely uneven - hence the problem. Even my 993C4S did the same. It is very frustrating having a nice car and not being able to go places in it. There are even pasrts of London that are impassable for me - Carshalton village being one.

The current best incarnation, with all the modern safety/convenience toys, is the Renaultsport Clio RS200.
