Sold a concours 53k mile car for 20k couple of years ago.
Early 20's i'd say. Its a cab so small audience coupled with most people prefer the narrow bodied 3.2c coupe's

The Supersport Cab wasn't a great '911', but it's an evocative take on '80s indulgence.

You'll find opinion divided, but with that mileage I'd have thought £29,995 would be a fair starting point.

(I'm assuming your selling)

I reckon if its a clean/straight car and you could get it for low 20's you would be doing well.

25k absolute tops.

Not a good car to be honest. Get a 930.

& what did the next owner sell it on for? Less than 6 months ago? Slightly more than £20k eh?! wink

Mileage means nowt, condition & history mean everything. If its good it's £25k minimum, if it's great & you're willing to play the waiting game.......

Yes an acquired taste agreed.
But i wouldn't buy a Supersport either to be honest.
I'd buy the 3.2c for late teens if i wanted an old Porsche.

Agreed, and most have now become well over priced IMO
Standard 3,2 is the way to go . But I'm the first to admit the SSe is a damned sexy car to look at .
I'm actually warming to the targa SSe more now.

Any `89 MY` SSE Cabriolet is going to command reasonably solid money at that low mileage.

The 3.2 SSE was a really heavy car to start with even without the rag top, but it really was very much a part of all the that 80`s iconic stuff.

I remember looking at one in that `metallic icey blue` also cabriolet with a red leather hood/interior at £29K in 1995, before buying a really good (for me) GP White coupe for way less.

3.2 SSE Cabriolet... Lovely looking car, but probably not the best buy as a drivers car or potential investment?

The weight difference between the narrow bodied car and the the turbo bodied car is quoted as 50kg in the hand book. That sounds about right for the extra weight in the larger steel wings and the heavier turbo brakes and rear trailing arms. Personally I much prefer the turbo bodied look.
For a mint low mileage car like this one with fsh I would imagine a dealer will be asking 40's for it.
If you can buy it for anywhere in the 20's I think you have done very well. Prices are only going to go up imo.

£40k retail? Take £10k off that and you may be nearer the mark...SCM excluded of course...

They really aren't very nice cars you know. Better off with a standard cab if you want a soft top.

He had it advertised for 2 years for 25k i think mate and never used it.
I think he accepted slightly less. They are still only worth mid 20's tops privately.
I loved mine owned it twice and it was a first class example. Having owned numerous car since i couldn't go back to one, very slow and rattly. You are better with a 3.2c coupe.
Personally and i did, you would be better paying a bit extra and getting a 930 an iconic car whether you like them or not. The SSE never will be much as i like them.

I think there is nice targa SSE on here for 20k in Red, thats good value IMO

asked £27k & accepted £26.5k if memory serves me correct.

Lovely car, not complete history though & not factory original paint, plus twice the mileage of this car the OP knows about.

Having seen a pic it certainly looks the part but obviously pics mean nothing on old 911s, but as stated if any of the "dealers" get their mitts on it it certainly won't be in the £20k's!

Might be up for sale for another 2 years though wink

Fair play to seller , daft buyer IMO .........
Not many IB's without paint buddy total rot boxes as we know
Car was in storage twice in its life if i remember rightly hence the history.
Car still not worth 25k in my opinion. People just jumping on the bandwagon on thw value front & talking them up. Cars are worth what people are willing to pay not what they are advertised for, & there are loads of IB cars on here that have been for sale for 12 months+

Couldn't agree more & someone was willing to pay 25+ for your old car. Thing was on that particular deal (& I don't think I'm saying anything I shouldn't here) the seller was quite prepared to hold out for his asking price & drive the car to the pub on sunny Sunday's when it took his fancy. Although asking 27k he had quite a few offers of 25k but just wasn't interested, there we're actually two buyers interested at the time it sold but it went to the guy in Australia that I did the inspection for as he was closest to the asking price.

So the market is definitely there

Sad i say.
Hanging on for 2 years for the sake of £1500 hardly using it etc, whats the point? especially when you have it overpriced in my opinion in the first place.
Wouldn't pay 25k for one. Anything under 10k miles cannot be used and enjoyed and will almost certainly not be healthy with dried out seals etc.

Yep nice car, only thing is like it or not, people don't like targas (which is daft as I love them myself) & don't want 915 boxes (again daft IMHO).

Fact is that car has been for sale for ages too, & in that time crimps old car sold for a lot more which just proves where the markets at.
