I have decided to have my R500 re sprayed

I think I am going to go for pearlescent white or Matt white with black strips

What colour would you go for?

I think white with black stripes looks great and if you look in the 'not enough pictures thread' there is an R500 with that scheme I think. However you will get practically a different answer from everyone who answers the question hehe

My preference is the lairier the better, which is why my forthcoming respray will be Porsche GT3RS orange!

JPS - black and gold?

I always fancied dyno-rod orange myself.

Chris, I had a long chat with Tony at TSK and Dave at Townley about the dyno-rod orange as I fancied it too. The biggest problem is that it is not photo-stable and fades within a year to 18 months to a mucky brown colour, meaning another respray would be required.

Colour is a personal choice and I've always had my motorbikes in orange. The plan was to get a Caterham in orange too. Unfortunately whilst it seems most other drivers shy away from orange cars nearly every other Caterham is orange!!

White and black certainly looks good. Very striking.

I'd agree lairy colours suit the Caterham but personally I'm not a fan of red Caterhams. Just look "wrong" to me. Bright green, orange, blue and yellow for me should I get around to changing my colour.

White is very in vogue at the moment, although personally the volume of RR Sports and Audi A5s in it put me off. I've always preferred orange, yellow or Kawasaki green myself, and I think there's something to be said for having a hi-visibility colour on something as skeletal as a Caterham.

I think a a car like a caterham should be a mad bright colour. Like said above my 7 is in the gt3rs orange.

The Supersport I'm building is matt white with a matt black stripe and front wings. A bit different but works well.

Can I ask what a re-spray is likely to cost?

I love the colour of my car but the paint quality is just awful, if I look at it wrong it chips. So I wouldn't mind getting it re-done in the same colour but I dont have a clue as to what would be a ballpark figure to get it done.

Gulf blue? I have to admit it wasn't my first choice, and colour wasn't high on my priorities, but after seeing it in the flesh I did like it. And it is Gulf blue ok... It is not baby blue alright! wink

I have a good friend who is going to do it for me and it's a very good pice, I have been quoted £1800 to £3000

When I bought my Caterham in 1990, I got red f/g and bought red paint too. then first wife (div 2000) said thought you would leave it polished aluminium!
So I did, it always looked spectacular, I got RSI through polishing the thing (especially the louvres).
Always liked the all blue Chris Rea car on the Auberge LP though.

my old Lotus 7 was either green/yellow nose/polished bonnet or green with wide yellow strip, depending upon my mood.

I was on the look out for a white or orange one. When the perfect car turned up it was black- which I've grown to love!

Just bought myself a 7 grill and painted it red. Planning on putting red stripes down the center to finish it off.

How about something like this? White, black and orange. If I ever get around to painting mine it'll be something like this.

Tricky, agreed it needs to be bright so you can be seen in all conditions. Ford st burnt orange with a reflective silver stripe and nose ring would be my choice. However as mentioned lots of orange cars around. You could go for a flip flop TVR style colour? Blue / green, or purple / orange.
