Hi all,

Some advice please, as I can't understand what is happening. So come back home and lock the car. 1 hr later go back out and the windows are fully down on the passenger and drivers side. This has happened twice. What I did notice yesterday was that the key I usually use was flashing red constantly then stopped. So decided to use the other key.

Any ideas...? Is one of the keys faulty opening the windows? Just locked the car now and will check again in 1 hr.

Thanks G

This used to happen to the missus quite a lot. Transpires it was when she put the key in pocket she was inadvertently pressing down on the button!! It's actually quite sensitive and easy not to realise what you're doing.

You can get a repair kit for the Gen1 remotes, which consists of 3 new buttons that are a different shape, and virtually eliminates accidental operation. About £30, but since I fitted the kit I have had no more problems - and I can now keep the key in my jeans pocket.

Thanks for the info guys. I hope it is accidental rather than a problem, especially if the key is sensitive.. Will keep an eye on it..

Yup, I'm forever opening the boot/bonnet with the keys in my pocket. Terrible design.

You can also get the key sensitivity coded with a PIWIS tester. It should be coded to 1100m/s but if its coded to less it can cause the windows to comfort open. The comfort open/close function can also be coded off. Its worth getting these checked out.

Opc will adjust sensitivity for you. I don't think they charged when I asked for this.

Not sure if the default setting changed but I only ever required the correction on my gen 1. My current gen 2 never had this problem.

Gen II keys have recessed buttons so much less of an issue (although not immune).

The key is still archaic though and a 'key' unlike the Audi VW folding thingys which are much mor user friendly.

Do you want that in minutes or days smile pick up on Saturday. I know what u mean about bad weather. Wife will be using mine two days a week when I have to pick two kids up from nursery on way home from work, hoping she will treat with the love and respect that is required smile I might end up getting some sort of banger for those two days but already have too many big toys with a race car, enclosed trailer to put it in and motorhome to pull it. If i need to move any of them around it's a right pain, adding another car in to the mix won't help. Not the worst problem to have to solve!
