Lens Barrel protection?

Apologies if repeated.
Looking for some barrel protection and NC/UV filters from Hoya, they apparently protect the glass, prevent moisture, dust and other horrible things, but dont most Nikon pro lens come with weather and UV protection anyway? I am highly unlikely to expose it to any extreme condition or risk, so is it worth it?

The only benefit I can see is glass protection, but does adding an extra layer of glass not degrade quality?

Dont laugh but also looking for a thin layer of pre-cut matt black vinyl to cover my lens and hood if I can find any, anyone?

You can keep your lens in a zipped or drawstring case if you like, but UV filters are not necessary and as you say, can only degrade quality. Never heard of barrel protectors. Higher Nikon lenses have 'weather sealing' which is a thin rubber gasket at the rear to seal the join between lens and body.

As you're not going to expose your lens to any extremes or risk, I wouldn't worry - just get a decent gadget bag to hold camera and lens/es safely and neatly.

Theres a bunch of things called 'lenscoats' which is what your talking about I think.

That's the idea, except I want it in matt black vinyl, stick on and peel off?

After watching used lens prices seemingly dictated by how many visible scratches there are, i thought id try this idea, just bought my first brand new lens and it smells and looks amazing, I'd like to try and keep it that way for as long as possible.

Each section sticks on separately so you can use the lens as normal.

oh yes, all major senses get used in the purchase of all my toys, touch, listen, look, smell with the exception of taste in this case, that would be weird.

B&H is US based, they just sell everything so its easy to find it there.

I'm sure somewhere in the UK sells them too. I'm also sure you can google that yourself!

Not quite, Lenscoat are elasticted neoprene covers, dont like the look of those. Whereas Lens Skins are just vinyl templates, stick on peel off like mobile phone screen protectors, protection without the increase in size.
