Your favourite 'old skool' arcade games?

Just rediscovered MAME and downloading plenty of old skool arcade games such as Street Fighter 2, Final Fight, Metal Slug 3 etc. Even finding lots of Neo Geo stuff too!

Anyone got any suggestions for good/fun games?

Streets or Rage, Goldenaxe and Shinobi were my favourites although not sure Shinobi could be classed as one.

I've looked at this before but never got far with it. Is it fairly easy to set up? Do you need to buy the (presumably) ROMs?

You download the MAME emulator which allows you to run the individual games.

You can then download each individual game from sites such as this: http://www.freeroms.com/mame.htm

They are downloaded as a zip file which you extract to the rom directory allowing you to play the game. The majority work, some do have issues however or simply won't work at all claiming missing files.

I've also got emulators/games for the NES, SNES, Gameboy and Mega Drive. Retro gaming FTW!

Incidentally, MAME supports pretty much all the NEO GEO titles too (remember those!?).

Great game but you had to pay for two credits to drive the faster car.

This reminds me so much of the 'Luna Parks' in Cyprus as a child. Each credit was 10 cents. Wasted hours and hours there!

Playing this game as a kid every weekend while working at the local ice rink I hunted it down in arcade form around 6 years ago and had it sitting at home alongside my fruit machine for a few years...was great fun to go back in time (for a while at least)
