What's the consensus of opinion?

I always regarded then as a bit.....well........strange as an investment strategy (I was purchased one as a christening gift once).

But with interest rates where they are, they are coming to my attention as a safe accessible (short term) option you wont loose and may just win a packet. If/once rates go up just weigh them in and bung the filthy lucre in a decent account.

^That. A short-term way to store cash. It's alot easier to buy and sell through the online portal. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for November. Probably just the usual £25 but you can always dream ..

Thanks. Incidentally, I vote M&S bank as the worst service I've ever received since Tiscali.

I wanted to use them decent interest rate a household name, but exceedingly poor service means that I can't/won't invest with them and am trying to get my money back as I type (been on hold for 20mins now and had 4 similar calls last week, life's too short)

If my experience is anything to go by, £25 is the only prize they give.

I used to get just above what good savings accounts offered from my PB's. In the last year this has dropped to only 4-5 £25'ers a years which is less. Seriously thinking of chopping them all in and bunging the money in a decent savings account.

The think stopping me is that there is that chance of getting a big win and also I don't need the money (well at least I don't need instant access to it).

The other poster is correct as well, max is £30k in bonds.
