*STOLEN* Trek 4300 Disk - Black/White/Red - Worcester

Just come out of work (Worcester Royal Hospital) to find my bike stolen. The chain has been cut. Happened between 8am and 4pm, broad daylight, on a busy through-road, under a CCTV camera. There were 2 bikes secured by the same chain, they left the other one.
Absolutely gutted.
Hospital security are reviewing the CCTV but just wanted to make people aware on the off-chance someone sees something.

The bit above is the bit that gets me most. This is the 2nd bike I've had stolen in 6 months - although the other one was not chained up, I just hid it behind a wall in a back garden and didn't expect anyone would see it.
This puts me off owning anything decent as sooner or later it's just going to be stolen anyway. that, or I buy another bike and carry on - either way I lose out. I know people have lost more but doesn't make it any nicer for me.
What locks were you using?

Let the Police know if you haven't already. My local force advertise stolen bikes on Twitter and have had a few success stories, as the bikes don't tend to roam too far.

Nothing too fancy - steel wire thing, about 12mm thick. There were about 10 other bikes in the bike rack, all secured with similar locks. Seems targeted to me, as it's there's every day. Just heard back from security - there's nothing on the CCTV

You're right though, obviously that's what it takes. Which goes back to my point about not owning anything decent - either I can't use it, or if I do it'll get knicked. I might booby trap my next bike :-P

Cable locks are so easy to cut, i'd suggest going for a D lock from the list on LFGSS, and using that to secure the frame and rear wheel to a solid object.Just heard back from security - there's nothing on the CCTV

I didn't mean that the thieves advertise on twitter, I meant that in my area, local police will tweet a pic of a bike that has been stolen (pic provided by the victim), asking people to look out for it. I don't know how much of a presence your force has online, but worth having a look. My area is @eastleighpolice if you want to see what sort of things they report.

Ah I get you 
I mentioned to the police and they'll see if they have such a service in West Mercia. Probably not sadly. I don't expect I'll get my bike back - tough to bear but just going to have to go and buy a new one.
