Wow, what a difference

So, after 500 road miles on my ebay special mtb, today i went for my first wobble on my recently arrived roadie - wow, what a different experience!
Still have to adjust a load of settings, but after just 9 miles i tried my old nemesis hill, took 40 seconds off my previous best time - despite it being first post holiday ride, nottrying too hard, and my previous best being pretty much all i could physically do.
I've done 2 sportives so far, both times people told me i was doing well to keep up - now i understand why! Speed on the flat wa just so much speedier, only time i was slower was down hill - but with the saddle put back i hope things get more stable next ride =)
If any other PHers are thinking about taking the roadie plunge, i heartily reccomend it...

See i've gone the other way round! I've had a road bike for ages, and train on it regularly. But a few weeks ago bought a hardtail MTB for some winter training, and i can't get over how much fun it is getting lost down muddy trails, compared to just cycling fast on roads!! I think it's just because it's something different!
They're both awesome, and i think everyone should own a Road bike and a Mountain bike!

New bike is a gtr series 1 - white ultegra clad shiny goodness. I know they're not the best name in roadies, but I'm certainly knocked for 6 by how nice it is.
As per the rules of n+1, the old one (trek 4500 hardtail from 2006) isn't going anywhere, but finally I can put the knobblies back on for the muddy stuff - commuter slicks down a muddy path is scary and not much fun. Will see next year wether they both stay or I get shot of the trek, depends on how often I end up riding it...
