Selling a Steam activated PC game
Discussion
After a bit of advice from those in the know. I've just sold my physical retail copy of football manager 2012 on ebay which I have used and previously registered to my steam account.
I want to be able to delete the game from my library so that the buyer can add it to his. I can't find an option for this in steam and the internet seems to be saying that it won't be possible and that the game is forever linked to my account and my account only.
I don't see how this is possible seeing as how I own the physical game and will no longer be playing it (I'll be getting the new one much to the despair of my girlfriend).
I remember there was a ruling regarding software licenses recently but could someone claify this situation.

I guess worst case scenario I'll just give him my steam account as this is the only thing I have in it and start a new one.

Read the Steam T&Cs (you know, the ones you agreed to): http://store.steampowered.com/subscriber_agreement...
He hasn't queried it and I haven't even sent the game yet. Theres loads of other listings of the game second hand that have completed and I'mm wait and see what he says. Just seems a bit restrictive and anti free-trade really, never understood why the games/software industry see themselves differently to every other industry.
Individual games cannot be traded once activated on your steam account. Steam have, under EXTREME circumstances removed games from peoples accounts but I doubt 'i want to sell it' would count. Your man won't be able to play it unless you give him your WHOLE steam account which I find unlikely. Basically, you can't sell it.
Did the back of the box look like this?

Did you disagree with their terms and return the game unopened?
It's a pretty box around a digital download. You're stuck with it unless you want to breach the terms you agreed to and give over your Steam account to someone else.
Given the rampant piracy of Football Manager in the past, I can't really blame them for it.

Hmmm, I understand that. This however encourages piracy, because I bought a game with a disc and a serial for that licence, and the other guy on ebay wants to buy a game on a disc with a serial rather than a pirated copy.
I didn't read the terms and conditions that I signed up to, I've bought pretty much every championship/football manager since 1997 and have usually given away my old copies to a mate or my little brother. Just though i'd sell this to offset the purchase of the new one, like you can do with every other commodity on the planet.
Maybe it's just me
