Photo editing on iPad

Morning all,

I use my iPad a lot as I travel quite a bit and the laptop is a bit much to carry around, can anyone recommend a good iPad app for photo editing???

Both Picshop and Snapseed are very good

Photoforge2 also looks promising, not had time to try it yet.

Agree with Snapseed, use it often on the iPhone. Very powerful, filter-based adjustments with additional sliders for brightness, WB, saturation etc. If you want to transfer "real" camera photos to work on, you need to use the Apple Camera Connection Kit but then you can use SnapSeed to import and process RAW files.

PhotoForge is also powerful but less intuitive to use and (on iPhone, at least) is not quite wysiwyg - you only see changes once you've applied them, which makes it difficult to know how much change to apply. To be fair, it's a two-stage apply, so can be easily undone or further adjusted if required. I most use it for adjusting black and white levels.

There's also Camera Awesome by SmugMug. I pretty much stopped using this when I started with SnapSeed but that's not to take anything away from it, it's probably the best free processing app out there.

If I want to process something quickly I'll use Snapseed, but I'm not really too keen on editing on an iPad, the screen quality and control accuracy are nowhere near as good as Lightroom on my Mac. When I'm on the road I do use Photosmith to add meta data and do picks/rejects which I can then sync back to Lightroom when I get back home.
