Look Pedals. Max, Plus, Blade?!?

After getting rid of my SPD pedals, i'm looking to get some Look style pedals, which seem to be the norm for road bikes etc. But there seem to be so many different versions?!?
Is it all marketing rubbish, and really it's a case of any of them will fit the cleats, and they are the same fitment? Or is there anything i should be looking for?!?!

I think they are all largely the same and will all fit the SL type shoes with 3 screws.
Speaking as someone who has just made the same change as you. Be careful when setting off in traffic with them. the single sidedness and lack of any grip on the underside of the road shoes can make for a bit of an embarrassing and wobbly engagement. It's defo not the same as the ever so easy stamp and your in spds.
Having said that you'll notice a difference, it's definitely worth the change.

Keo Plus is the basic narrow platform pedal, wholly made of plastic with a cro-mo axle. Relatively heavy but cheap
Keo Max is a wider pedal platform, made of plastic (or carbon on the more expensive model) composite with a metal plate to help prevent wear. Relatively light and mid range on price
Keo Blades are the same platform as the Max with a carbon blade that provides strong tension. Lightweight but expensive.
I run a pair of Max on one bike and Blades on another, The blades have a more positive engagement and disengagement and are a lot lighter, otherwise the Max is very close in terms of function for half the price.
The Exustars are very good pedals by all accounts but I've not used them myself

I use Keo Classics. Very nice once clipped in, but the cleats don't last long (3-4months of moderate use, maybe 600miles) because they get chewed up even when trying to avoid too much walking in them. This maybe the case will all large undersole cleats though, I haven't tried any others.
Anything more than the classics is marketing.
The cleats last a long time if you don't wander round and you buy the ones with rubber grip on them. I've had no issues with mine after thousands of miles.
If I had money to burn I would buy the blades as they look nice but I'm positive they are no better than the classics.

You must do a lot of walking! I've put 3000 miles on a set on Look grey cleats and they look to have a similar distance left in them yet.+1 on Keo Classics being good pedals.
