Mike Harding fired from Radio 2

Now I don't listen to his show as it is a bit too 'folky' for me, but christ, to be fired from a show he has hosted for 15 years, that has increased listeners from under 100k to over 800k, by a 2 min telephone call is way out of order IMO.

The Beeb are royally fking it all up aren't they? Morons

...unless of course there are skeletons in Mr Hardings closet we don't know about...

That's a shame, I've always liked his programmes, although I'm not a die hard folk fan. Still, the BBC are a law unto themselves, despite the publicly funded licence fee.

If BBC Radio want to make a few changes may I suggest that they get rid of that awful Steve Wright and dispatch him back to local radio where his outdated dross will be most welcolme

Never liked the way they ousted out Mark Lamarr from his Rockabilly radio show either.

Tried to make out he wanted to go as they seem to be doing with MH.

Radio 2 appears to be moving towards a different demographic. Far too much commercial chart crap on now. I quite like Mark Radcliffe but his umming and ahhing will take up at least a song's worth of time every week!

I thought Mike Harding's twitter line was pretty good: "They want to make it more 'live'. Dint no I were dead."

I guess we just have to put up with it, from what I've heard if you complain to the Beeb's management they suggest Radio 6. Fat lot of use that is in the car!

Harding firing is lunacy. I reckon folkies will turn off in their droves out of loyalty.

Harding does Folk, Jones blues, that old guy 60s on Sat 8 til 10, Whispering Bob does country. It's the law.
