Upgrading jockey wheels

running out of things to spend money on but having given the drivetrain of both mtb and road bikes a bit of tlc this week, i've thought about upgrading the jockey wheels to something a bit bling with ceramic bearings. does any one have any recommendations for XT and Force.

Tacx ones seem to get good reviews. They make standard, stainless and ceramic bearing versions.

Wouldn't bother looking for ceramic bearings, it will make no difference when under load. In fact any "upgraded" jockey wheel is of dubious value unless your existing ones are shot

I had some KCNC ones, they didn't last very long compared to stock

Always decided that alloy jockeys are noisier to be honest. Nice smooth drivetrain and rattling from the back. I am considering some bearing fitted jockey wheels rather than the Tiagra cheapy ones at some point, but in a resin wheel.

No doubt they would spin up more easily, the increased stiffness would exponentially increase power transfer and the weight savings speak for themselves!

I have some ceramic bearing KCNC jockey wheels. They are mounted on a XTR long carbon fibre cage. Normal plastic wheels running on bushes tended to develop some slop after the first month. These have been on for 9 months now and there is no play in the bearings. Shifting is far more precise. This is good and bad, when it is set up it is a joy, if the settings drift with cable stretch etc, poor shift are more evident. They don't clear mud any better than normal plastic wheels. I have had one disintegrate but it was replaced by return of post.

I like them and I will continue to replace them like for like.

For that money, you could get 2 of these http://www.sportsdirect.com/sabre-serpent-senior-m... BSOs from SportsDirect, and probably still have change for a bucket of fried chicken. Having said that, the chicken would probably last longer than the bikes. Still, £175 for two pulley wheels? If only I had a pile of cash lying around with nothing to spend it on.
