Xbox Update

New Xbox update out today, looks a little neater now, also comes with explorer(took them long enough).

So, will you Xbox be able to do everything soon?

I watch sky, lovefilm etc, new music channel has arrived let alone all the other tv on it, the possibilities are endless.

Do the newer ones have fans that sound less like Dyson fecking Airblades?

I've had the beta for a while and IE is handy, but Lovefilm etc are pointless as the damn thing is just too loud.

Sounds like yours might be broken. The new ones are quieter than the old ones though, nearly silent in operation, even more so if you install games the HD while playing them.

I'm still on an original one. Sounds like a harrier jumpjet taking off. Useless as a media centre.

Only change I've had recently was a new terms of service. After 5 minutes scolling just clicked accept

When you turn the Xbox on, it will ask you to update.

Apologies, what I meant was there anything different with the UI? A few people were saying they were running the "beta" for a couple of months, so not sure if I already had it.

IIRC I did get an update about a month or two ago? I've got a 'Metro' style interface at the moment, that said I've never noticed if IE is there or not.

It's a Falcon-motherboard Elite and has always sounded like that. Absolutely hopeless for any media that doesn't involve loud explosions. Games are not really the issue whether on HD or disc as they are involving or loud enough that you're not bothered by the noise.

Try watching a quiet DVD on the other hand...

The last interface update was sort of 'Metro' but I'm sure didn't have as many tabs or tiles as the beta one.

If you had the Beta you'd probably remember signing up for it - t'was somewhat involving, involving downloading an app on the xbox, registering console numbers and product keys on Microsoft Connect. Bit of a PITA for what turned out to be a very clumsy browser!

Fingers cross they've adjusted the controls for the release, as it was otherwise quite good at a distance even on a smallish TV.

I got the update this afternoon , just went for a quite spin on forza so no opinion on the update as of yet*

• other than the standard MS thing of "where have they mored that too now ?"

yup I signed up to the beta too so have had this for some weeks.
Agree the browser is a bit clunky so no danger of replacing laptop/pad/phone anytime soon.

BUT I was getting E71 errors on exiting games to dashboard, or power off.
tried all things on web I could find & none worked. coincidentally signed up for the BETA and not had one since.

No update for me yet even though I was on the Xbox last night and Weds night. As someone has mentioned above, all I have done so far is agreed new terms of service.
