Insuring two Porsches
Discussion
I am thinking of adding a second car (944 Turbo) to my 'collection'. I already have a Boxster. I was recommended Admiral’s ‘Multicar’ policy, but this actually works out far more than twice as expensive as I am paying for the Boxster on it’s own!
Loads of other people on here seem to insure two at once. What is the best way of doing it, one on classic car insurance, one insured via spouse, or do these products like Multicar generally work and I am just entering something wrong!?

I have always found Admiral multicar useless too. It seems to work if you have multiple NCD - but if not, it really doesn't work.
As mentioned, classic policy for one of the cars is a good way to go, or find a company that does some kind of fleet policy. My 996 turbo / 348 are currently with Chaucer via Pace Ward and am very happy with the prices (it actually went down this year by about £100).

Are those classic prices (Davek & Mr Cooke) based on the cars being garaged?
I found that being garaged was key to getting classic cover. Most dont want to know if this cant be facilitated and car is on driveway or road.
I have Admiral multi car on a 964 and a BMW 316Ti - worked out ok for both given i only had 1 years NCB....but the BMW was almost as expensive as the porka...................
Not having a garage and then having only 1years NCB really limited my options re: insurance

At least for me, yes it was garaged. But similar to OP, my quote for just the 964 was more than I was paying for both cars. I've seen several posts from people saying they've got good prices from Admiral, but whenever I've tried they have been massively un-competitive for some reason.I found that being garaged was key to getting classic cover. Same here, 2 Porsches, 2 Lotuses, 1 RRS, 1 A3, 1 Ka(k) same policy with Chaucer very good priceI've found two solutions to this which are slightly different from a multi-car policy, both of which have been cheaper:
1. Really only for classics: AON do a classic porsche policy that requires no no-claims and reviews the risk and driving history for what it is and then leave your other car on the original policy. 993 C2S for around £400 for a bloke in his 40s with good record living in OXON.
2. More generally: ManningUK do really good policies which include track day cover. They will match your no-claims on a primary car if you haven't had a claim in the last couple of years. Pricing pretty similar to the 993 above.
Hope that helps

The Chaucer policy (which I have) really comes into its own when you have a high ratio of cars to drivers. Adding more cars when it's greater than 1:1 works really well.
Now one thing to watch is that the Chaucer family fleet policy does not have any concept of NCB. So having had it for 3 complete years now, all my previous NCB is a bit stuffed. Now I've not really wanted to get out of it yet, but I've no idea how to do it if I have no NCB to go back to ordinary policies!
Anyone else found this?
