Best Credit Search
Discussion
I'm in the process of applying for a mortgage at the moment, and the first time I've applied for any proper finance (outside of a credit card) for about 10 years.
The first application completed got to the credit search bit and came up 'Refer'.......they said not to worry and i suspect it's due to the fact I have a couple of BTL's, but there is still that bit odf doubt in my mind, so wonder whether I should get my credit report just to check it all looks OK ?
If I should, who are the best, Experian or Equifax or A N Other?

The company behind this is Callcredit, who are regularly mentioned in conjunction with Equifax & Experian.
Does anyone know just how much they are used/referred to by credit companies?
The reason I ask is that I had a look at my details which they have for me - and it's a PoS! Significant differences to what Experian & Equifax have on me, e.g. my ex is still listed with them as someone with whom I have a financial connection, despite it being 7 years after we split & closed our mortgage & joint accounts (Equifax & Experian don't list her as being a connection and haven't done so for quite a while); a banking account which was closed 8 years ago is listed as dormant (Equifax & Experian no longer list the account); plus a couple more things!
If you haven't checked what these people have on you - on the basis of my record - then I strongly suggest that you do.

I'd suggest that the information held by Callcredit is probably the latest they hold. Therefore you'd need to contact the comapanies who those accounts are held with to ask them to update Callcredit as not all companies do as a matter of course. The best thing you can do, depending on how anal you want to be about your credit file, is hold an account with all three Credit reference agencies and ensuring the information across all three is accurate at all times.Does anyone know just how much they are used/referred to by credit companies?

Noddle may not be 100% up to date, in comparison to Equifax and Experian, but to be fair, it is free.
