Really enjoyed this, I'm just slightly too young to have been able to properly appreciate just how good a band Squeeze were at their heyday (I was 12 in 1981). They really have stood the test of time, gone through huge ups and downs and now seem to be at ease with each other, themselves and their back catalogue.

Actually watching now, was 16 in 1979 and Squeeze took me through my formative years, god I loved cool for cats cd but east side story was virtually seminal - Squeeze have never been far from me in 32 years!

I kick myself over this, but didn't go and see them when they played my poly years ago. At the end, they all jumped off the front of the stage & mingled with the crowd for photos & chats. Jools Holland got mobbed & my mate had a long talk with Glen Tilbrook, as he likes to remind me whenever we meet.

Ooh, that will be the Frank tour of 1990, I saw them at Norwich, UEA. if its any comfort they played a blinding set, probably one of the best gigs I have been too

Yes a very enjoyable programme, apart from Glenn's facial hair.

Squeeze and I go back a long way and have seen them many times. First time was purely by chance and was pure magic. In 1989/90 did the second year of my degree at a college in Connecticut and was visiting NYC for the weekend with a mate I'd made there who was from Dagenham. A tout approached us asking if we wanted to buy Squeeze tickets for Madison Square Gardens that night. We didn't need asking twice - we were there and it was a brilliant show. During Labelled With Love Glenn got members of the audience up on stage sitting cross legged to recreate the Elvis '68 Come back Special. I was very proud to be a Brit that night! (As an aside I saw a few British acts on tour in the US that year, including Paul McCartney who was touring for the first time in ages, and all of them had a Union Jack draped over an amp, presumably as a nod to the 60s British Invasion).

Few years later Glenn and Chris did a small acoustic gig at Kidderminster Leisure Centre and mingled with the crowd during the warm up act. I asked Chris if I could buy him a pint, to which he replied 'No, fanks' as he was probably in one of his rehab periods....Sorry Chris!

Its a cliche to say that they never got the success that they deserved but to compensate there probably not a band or a songwriting partnership more loved and respected by their peers and fans.

By the way, BBC4's Friday night music docs are excelling themselves recently...

My sister bought me this (on cassette!) when it originally came out, I was a bit non-plussed to say the least
but listened, listened again and again and loved it. Still love it, although the cassette is long gone. As per my previous post, slightly passed me by originally. Very few finer bands/songs in my opinion

Only just caught up with this. Very enjoyable.

I've always liked Squeeze but this made me realise just how much. What a fantastic band.

I saw Chris doing a solo slot a few years back, but have never seen the whole band live. Wanted to go to an outdoor show at Greenwich last year but it clashed with something I couldn't get out of, but they're touring again and I'm going to trying and get to one of these...

I saw Glen Tilbrook at a small venue in York earlier this year and have tickets to see Squeeze in Leeds in December. Going with mates who have educated me on this brilliant band.

Did anybody else catch the program that followed the Squeeze show.....about Paul Carrack......who guested in Squeeze for a while.

Brilliant voice and what a nice guy......

Can't wait for December!
