Has anyone fitted wheels much lighter than factory and noticed any performance / dynamic / ride difference on standard suspension?

Any chance of elaborating?

I wanted an idea of what difference it makes in real life driving on the road. How much lighter were the wheels you changed to (per corner) and would it be worth the investment to you if you ignored cosmetic improvement?

Thanks in advance!

Not really worth the investment, but I like OZ wheels looks wise.
Turn in will be better but it's another story if you can feel it.
Oz now the the 5k 7.7kg wheels which would be a nice saving over a 13kg wheel.

My Spyder has light wheels as standard, so def not worth going aftermarket, but that feels great on turn in, but that also has PCCB which helps again.

It depends what wheels you now have whether it is worth it or not. E.g. Spyder wheels are very light and are quite close to the top of lower weight wheels.

Oz ultraleggeras might be sweet spot in price and light weight. Oz also has "SUPERFORGIATA" wheels which are much more expensive but not much lighter if I remember right.

But it will still be a C4S and handle like a barge so I would save my money................

Ouch. I have to disagree but that is a whole different thread. Actually C4S was some time ago and current car is 997 Turbo, but guessing you will have the same view about the handling anywayfrown

But current wheels are standard forged 997 turbo items.

Thats a different kettle of fish and I have to say that I was presuming - another thread maybe - that it was a 993C4S which, IMHO, could only be improved by burning at the stake.............

I run OZ supperlegeras on my 997.1 RS - the are considerably lighter and bring your total & sprung mass down which is a good thing on the side of pure facts. Subjectively the car feels more nimble and lively (in a good way). Havent regretted it.

When used heavily on track they can get bent more easily when compared to the OE wheels.

Lol! No, it was a 997 C4S and I thought it was pretty tidy. No experience with the 993 vintage but I'll take your word for it!

Thanks, I'll take a look at these. Unlikely that my car will see much track work and certainly won't be going near kerbs through choice if it did so bending unlikely to be an issue.

I seem to remember that the press didn't like them much, and were very pleasantly surprised by the 996 C4S which I think is the best all round 996 excluding GT cars / Turbo (and I have had a lot of driving timeline my mates one).

Lightweight wheels are definitely worth their weight in gold.

It's like wearing Timberland boots on your feet and then putting on a pair of lightwieght Nike/Addidas running trainers you will notice a difference!!!
(epsecially if you were running in them).

I had the Ultraleggra HLT's and now I have the Superforgiata's and they are lovely!
