Let's say that money and time were no object (which unfortunately is not the case at the moment!)

What would it take to go from having a trial flying lesson in a Piper Arrow to being able to fly myself and 6 mates down to the Alps (e.g. Chambery) in a Beechcraft King Air?

I am talking about ratings and experience necessary to do it safely.

I have a funny feeling about my EuroMillion numbers so planning ahead... tongue out

You would need
1. PPL ( ~ £10k)
2. ME rating ( ~ £5k?)
3. IR rating ( ~ £3k?)

I would reckon 200 hours experience absolute minumum before you would (should) have the confidence to fly amongst big mountains potentially on instruments.
Of course 200 hours bimbling around Norfolk in a single is a lot cheaper (and not as useful) as getting experience in a twin amongst mountains.

Yeah, £40k maybe? How long is a piece of string?
