996 GT3 RS Battery Kill Switch?
Discussion
Does anyone have the Porsche the part number for the battery kill switch fitted to the 996 GT3 RS models? I am thinking that this might be a nice addition to retrofit to my basic GT3 model.
I like the subtle, neat way the cable clips back the trim of the boot lining when not exposed for safety use on track. Has anyone ever retrofitted one of these? Are they only available from Porsche or do any of the specialist parts guys stock them?
Thanks in advance for any info.

do you have any master cut off parts in the car already? are you wanting it to be functional when installed or just sit there?
apologies if you know all of this already but the switch is just part of the control circuit for a main relay which does the disconnect/connect circuit.
if you want to go the porsche route you need the master relay, battery cables, the outside switch, the pull cable, the red heat shrink, the plastic clips to hold it in place. theres also an internal switch that works as part of the same circuit as the outside one though you can make this optional if you wanted.
you would then need to wire everything together to get it to work. the circuit is there in the wiring diagrams for the 996 on the GT3 appendix sheet.
the cut off system is a bit more complex than in the Cup cars in terms of its integration as it needs to keep some circuits powered even after a shut off. in the race cars, if you kill it you just kill everything.
the pricing for the main relay by itself is in the region of £320 plus vat

it may well cost more, last time i looked at it for someone was over a year ago and i also get pretty good discount. it aint cheap thats for sure.
for a road car, the intergration is important as theres a bunch of stuff you may still want to be able to operate even if its "killed"
radio, alarm unit, ecu, door locks, windows and hazard lights are what porsche keep alive. if you have accessories in the car one might want more than this still getting power.
