Shatting xbox live problems

Last night I was kicked off live whilst playing MW3. Did reboot the router/hub but ended up watching a film.
The same has just happened, and this time I have followed the reboot sequence, but no joy. Still wont connect to live, only the internet.
Any suggestion on what I can try next? Would using Cat6 have anything to do with this problem?

Yeah looks like its everything up and down at the moment. Website was down too briefly. Service status shows issues http://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-live-status
