Am I Getting Old?

So I bought the new Ghost Recon on the PS3, after loving GR 1 and 2, and it's great. But I cant be bothered to play it?!

I find myself dreading the action sequence, and enjoying the walking around bits much more...

Same with COD. The story was fine, I enjoyed that. Dreaded the action parts, though. Tedious and boring.

I used to be fully into my action games. Loved the original Modern Warfare, all the way back to the Doom days I've been a FPS fan but recently... I just cant be ar*ed!

Is it me getting old? Or are games just getting 'stale'?

That's what makes the Fallout 3 games awesome - lots of exploring.

Perhaps they are too linear. Try multiplayer.























And then when you've been raped and teabagged for the 500th time in an hour by an 18 year old gamer, you'll definitely know you're too old.

Well; Ghost Recon, COD and Battlefield are essentially the same game, try something different. I personally am bored to death of "Modern Warfare" style games now.

try borderland 2, its really good.

and a bit different from the norm a la COD/BF/all that ilk.

the graphics are a nice change too.

an theres lots of exploring, but you have to fight your way through though.

FPS games have become far too much like watching Battleship or Tranformers 12 or whatever. Lots of big explosions and jerky camera movement, and very little else. As mentioned above, there is some quality storytelling knocking around in video games nowadays, it's worth seeking out.

Two games I have found interesting in the last year are LA Noire and Uncharted 3.

If you like walking around Skyrim is pretty good at soaking up the views.

When I stumbled upon hours spent on the save game file I took the CD out and haven't touched it since. I was genuinely shocked.

yeah i'm the same -

i was a huge bad company 2 fan and loved playing online

i just cant bring myself to play battlefield 3 on or offline

instead i've been on just cause 2 which is such a huge game. - plenty of free play

Skyrim's pretty good, but then I feel I don't have enough free time to really do it justice!

GTA4 was probably the last game that really engaged me. I thought that blended free roaming with story, and action. I really enjoyed that game.

Black Mesa has been fun too!!! But then the rose tinted specs played a part in that.

This is one of the reasons I love Far Cry 2, you have a huge African map to explore by foot, by vehicle, by boat. Go nuts, go anywhwere you want, you can even catch a bus.

It also has good action parts.

Although the game got very mixed reviews, some love it, some hate it.

And...you can download it DRM free from Good Old Games for $10.

Far cry 2 was boring plus the character couldn't seem to climb on to a railway coach to steal some diamonds. Gave up on it shortly after.

My old pc probably wouldn't run skyrim, but I am playing oblivion (again) at the moment. This is a lot of fun, and so far I'm ignoring the main quest and doing all the separate quests for the guilds and in the various towns and villages.

Perhaps the OP you try this?
