Location Ideas

I'm a bit of an amateur photographer. I've also just fallen in love with my new car. Naturally I want to take photos of her

I'm struggling for location ideas though. Anyone have any good ideas? Only thing that keeps popping into my head is industrial estate but it's so cliche.

Help me out here please. Good/interesting location ideas please

I prefer nice clean backgrounds, I know you aren't keen on industrial, but this was taken on the industrial estate not too far from my house:

I haven't got an example picture to hand, but at the back of the car park at my work there is a large wooden fence, which makes a good backdrop too, so industrial doesn't have to be all about urban decay etc.

The other alternative is to fins some nice scenery, this was taken in the car park at Glencoe (on my phone), so maybe try laybys or car parks around country parks/the seaside etc.

What colour is the car? Might help suggest contrasting or complementing backgrounds. Is it the red MR-2?

If you're in Romford, why not the seafront in Southend and take it on/near the beach or maybe at dusk with a flashy arcade behind it?

Yes it's my MR2.

Really nice photos there. I'd love to do a southend session but worried about ridiculous parking restrictions etc along the front there. Might be possible on a Sunday evening though, especially as it gets quieter in the winter!

I think i've seen decent looking industrial areas in Ockendon, when I got lost on the windy roads on the way to work once. Think i'll do some recon tomorrow I suppose industrial is popular for a reason! The winter and early starts should make some fairly dramatic shots possible, with early mist and golden light etc

Ooh and we have a cottage weekend coming up in Norfolk for a friends birthday, could be very interesting if i can slip away from the party...

There are a couple in the area that we use for magazine photoshoots, the first obvious one is leake street for the graffiti tunnel - http://goo.gl/maps/3kvMO



The second one is parking on the metal bridge at the Tilbury passenger ferry - http://goo.gl/maps/ARgNy





And the last one requires the ability to smile politely and explain that you are just taking photos as it is on private land, patrols turn up every hour and normally just let you get on with it.

Around the back of civil and marine underneath the dartford bridge there is an area of sand infront of the floodgates, along with all of the machinery and the bridge it makes for some very good backdrops. Follow this road all the way down to the river wall - http://goo.gl/maps/HQxwr
