Leaded or unleaded?

Hello,

I picked up a beautiful, very low mileage, S3 on Friday. I love it. It is purely for weekend and summer use, really. I have a few questions to ask, as this is my first foray into TVR ownership and being a 29 year old business consultant I have no experience of real motors! I am willing to learn though, in for a penny - in for a pound!

So, the first one. I know the car is meant to run on old school 4 star. I have put in BP Ultimate so far, but there is a local filling station which sells 4 star. Should I keep to 4 star or will BP Ultimate be fine to use?

S3 heads are unleaded friendly, the only possible change that might have been required was ECU based, but there's a really solid chance that this has already been done either by a PO or at the factory...

Whereabouts are you based, i see your profile says Southern but wondered whereabouts..

Should be fine on unleaded, but go with higher octane to avoid knocking, or retard the ignition timing and use regular unleaded.

No.

I ran my S2 on regular 95 unleaded for 19 years - including European tours and track days - without any problems.

Unleaded. I have tried both regular and super unleaded and it doesn't seem to make a difference. If you have an S3C fitted with a catalyst then don't use leaded - it will kill the cat.
