Electric windows
Discussion
I had a spare couple of hours so thought Id convert my car to electric windows
had 3 goals.
1. Windows went down further than standard
2. I didnt add any weight to car at all
3. windows went up and down electrically
glad to say I managed all 3... in fact it actually ended up just under half a KG lighter... I wont lie, it was a pain in the ass, I completely removed all the existing mechanism including the part bonded to the glass, I then heavily modified an electric window mechanism to suit and bonded carbon fibre onto the glass as mounting point (yes I do have a carbon fettish lol).
Also had Martyn recover my door cards in leather along with removing the window winder hole, I gave them to him and told him to do what he though would suit my... as usual he did an awsome job with 2 tone leather and it looks great against my leather and carbon dash.
anyhow pics....

How did you manage to get the window to go all the way down? I thought it was the shape of the door that made it impossible.
Do you have any pictures of the mechanism you could pm me?
Very interested in doing something similar myself.

its a ford fiesta and the pair cost me about 30quid... really quick and smooth as well.
yes the shape of the door is an issue... so i removed the steel off the bottom of the glass and infused carbon onto the glass to secure it and thus gained 20mm, the rest of the extra drop is gained by careful tweeking... my glass goes to within a few mm of the hitting the door when down.
the other benefit is I was able to get it to go 5mm higher as well so less wind noise
