Stood next to this very fine gentleman last week at a Battle of Britain function, whilst Hurricane R4118 displayed overhead. The very Hurricane in which he damaged several JU88s and downed a third during the Battle of Britain. Just amazing that both him and his aircraft are still going strong over 70 years later.

What an absolutely awesome chap in every way, including telling an absolutely corking story about a WAAF. Still young at over 90.

Struck me though, that he is one of the very few 'few' remaining and the days of people like me standing in awe next to these old gents are almost over.

Was a rather good do and a rather epic flypast wasn't it mate! Both he and the Great Escape survivor had some amazing tales and are both so modest about what they did, true heros.
