are these the right brake pads?

on my old tourer I have 55mm pads on a V brake arrangement back and front.

I'm currently doing 30 miles a day on the commute (only for the next couple of months) but they'll need replacing soon.

the pic below is the pad set up. they sort of go into the holder and then are secured in place to the side - you can see what I mean.



are either of these ones the right pads?

they dont look like standard V blocks to me which normally have a screw cap arangement to secure them?

any advice would be welcome!

No those are for the old style cantilever brakes. You are correct - you will need ones which are threaded and they usually come supplied with the convex/concave washers for adjusting the alignment.

edit - the length of the pad isn't really too important on a tourer, in fact a longer pad will give better braking as there is effectively more pad touching the rim when you brake.

The more modern threaded ones won't fit your bike.

Hardworkers is right - Sorry for the bad info, your image wasn't there when I posted. I wen't off your description but your brakes aren't 'v'brakes'
