Smaller, lighter – and still delivering the ultimate in gaming and home entertainment.
Coming 28th September

Available from 28 September 2012, the new PS3 system is available with a whopping 500GB of storage and will be closely followed by a wallet-friendly 12GB version.
The new console offers you the flexibility to tailor your PS3 experience to suit your needs: start off with the 12GB model and then ramp up the capacity by connecting a dedicated 250GB Hard Disk Drive. This is just one of the great peripherals that will be released at the same time alongside a range of other essential accessories such as a vertical stand that offers more flexibility in how the new PS3 can be displayed.
To tie in with the launch, PlayStation Store for PS3 is set to get a new look from October 2012 too, making it even easier for you to find and download the content you love from the comfort of your sofa.

Nonsense - my gaming PC piddles all over it.
Now, if they'd said 'ultimate in gaming and home entertainment at this price point', I may have agreed with them.
Of course, but the PS3 doesn't really compete with PC's does it?Now, if they'd said 'ultimate in gaming and home entertainment at this price point', I may have agreed with them.

I still want to know when the 4 or what ever it is called will be out, and what the specs will be? There seems to be a lot of speculation out on the web.

Can you charge the f
king controllers when it's turned off this time? I've recently purchased a PS3 Slim and whilst it plays the games I can't get elsewhere (Heavy Rain, Uncharted etc) I find it an awful, awful thing. So many little designs flaws.
Controller is a horrid little thing.
Charging is a pain.
Why no short-cut menu when you press the PS button?
Optical audio out is badly designed and lets the amplifier 'sleep' so sounds get cut off.
Has to be told to output audio to the amp and TV; why not both as default?
Home screen is a mess.
Disc drive is noisy and spins up annoyingly randomly.
Can you install games onto the HDD? I can't find an option.
All incarnations are f
king ugly!
Ahh, I feel better now.
EDIT: Just looked at the pics; my word that is a nasty looking piece of kit. Do you think the top slides open to load discs?

While I do find that a little bit annoying, you can charge it via a laptop/PC which I find more useful. My computer is pretty much turned on all the time, so I find it easier to keep ontop of the charging that way.

Looks cheap and nasty - which is where Sony have been heading the last few years anyway. Top loading mechanical disc drive is just rubbish and useless for people who store them in shelf units under TV's etc.
Have to see one in the flesh first. But then I still have a chunky monkey so a slim will be an improvement no matter what. Plus I really need a bigger hard drive to store my games (I have lemmings!)Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
