New exhaust for gt3 rs 3.8
Discussion
from experience I see a fair few 997 gt3's fail noise tests at various tracks still running std exhausts!.. the only place I see gt3's running after market exhausts without hassle is the ring (135db's).. I reckon you'd be screwed at any uk track for excessive noise if you fit an aftermarket system.. we fitted a sharkwerks backbox by-pass system to our 3.8rs and this would fail most if not all uk tracks.. but it's easy to install & remove if your handy with the tools, so you could run it on the road, and swap back to std for track...?
be good to ask other owners on here such as discocolin & ttdan for info.. i was with them on track at donington recently and they were getting grief from the noise nazis.. i recall they were all running std systems, with the valves tricks in place, but sure some of them got booted off..?
7gt3 with sharkwerks by-pass is deffo louder than 105db !!

When I talked to the Akrapovnic Man at the FOS he said the GT3RS GEn 2 already had one of their exhausts so no real room for improvement there.
I thought the only car that came with an Akropovic system fitted as standard was the gt2rs.. no Akropovic system on our 7.2 gt3rs.majordad said:

Maybe he meant it was their R&D or are they OEM?Anyway, any other exhaust on the .2RS will make it louder and as its borderline on most UK track days as standard....
I guess it depends why you want to change it?
The "trick" you can use is to close off the valve on the switchable exhaust which will stop it going in to sport mode an therefore keep it quieter on drive by. Does seem to choke the power a bit tho at the top end.

He said the box part was theirs, and I ve seen somewhere the RS part even has their name stamped on it.
ok i see David as to Akropovic designing the rear silencer box.. i agree that changing the rear box to a bypass or other make might not see any performance gain.. though the cup box may add a bit of flow/power.. i think the rudeboy op wants a bit more sound..? can't fault the lad!!Might also be worth finding out how NXI20 is getting on. He has a new exhaust for his 3.9 996 which is supposedly driveby safe everywhere, less than 105 static and should also be compatible with a 997. Not positive, but I think it was from MTM and took them ages to supply (it was about to be fitted the last time I caught up with him).
As has already been said - the stock one for a 997 GT3 cannot pass the new noise regime at Donington without putting a vacuum cap on the release valve for the bypass.

M & MEFA.
I note Europipe no longer list any exhausts for N/A Porsche GT models, anyone know why this is ? Lack of demand ?
