S1 Driving Position Adjustment??

Is it possible to increase the length of the driving position on an S1? Just went to purchase one and realised it is impossible for me to drive. I'm 6ft 3", has anyone had this problem or is there any mods that can be carried out to the car? Thanks.

There was a choice of pedal box position I think from the factory - I think once chosen it was permanent.
It might be worth trying another car.
I am 6ft 3 and couldn't get on with the original S seats but there are alternatives. griff / chim seats bolt straight in or jag xjs sports seats can be made to fit. I did both and both are good although jag seats are a bit of a pig to fit.

The problem I had with the original seats was with the way it pushes your shoulders forward at the top of the seat and the headrest is too far forward.

I have an S2 (same cockpit as S1) and I'm 6'3" too. It is a little tight for me but I haven't had too much of a problem though. The later cars are bigger, I sat in Autoandy's S3 and it is more comfortable as you can recline the seat more due to having more leg room.

In my car I found the seats (which are original) are designed for people who are about 4' as the shoulder support pushes into your middle back which can be annoying on long motorway journeys.

One of my jobs on the to do list is to make or modify the pedal box for more space.

Did you get the seat all the way back until it was against the rear shelf? You may need to un-recline the seat a little to get the last bit of travel. I'm 6'4 and had no trouble with my S2 or V8S. But they were offered with different length pedal boxes so yours may have been set up for short people. In that case I think you'd need to get the pedal box taken out and adjusted to move the pedals further forward.

Well, I'm 6ft 1in & i have to move my seat fwd 3" to be able to fully depress the clutch in my S1.
Seating position is superb, just wish the doors were longer for getting in/out

Thats all really good info, thanks. I'll go back today and try to un-recline the seat first, also the roof will never be able to be fitted due to my head sticking out. I was ready to right off ownership of the S series but it sounds like i need to wear a couple of others first!!! Dont suppose anybody around the Kings Lynn area has a larger fit S do they??

Aftermarket steering wheels can be bigger which can stop you driving. I sampled an s3 with a non standard steering wheel and found I could n't get in, however at the same club meet was a car with the (smaller) standard wheel = no probs for a 6 ft 5 in person.

Thanks Ralph, i would guess that the wheel fitted to the car is 13" is that standard? I know a smaller wheel would help but obviously with no power steering it may be slightly harder to turn. Does anybody know a good place to get a smaller wheel from? I've decided to make an offer on the car.

Looks like ive bought it!! it has seats fitted from a chimera, could this be the issue?
