Geometry comparison - I'm I reading it right?

I feel like this is turning into my own personal cycling forum the amount of questions I'm asking at the moment!

I'm away to buy a new frameset, it will act both as a replacement for my RTA damaged carbon frame as well as serving me through the winter until I get my 'proper' new bike in the spring time.

Here is the geo from my current bike. Frame size is a 56cm.

Here is the geo of the Dolan frame I'm looking at.



The biggest thing I notice is that my head tube length is 180 vs 150/170 on the 58/60cm frames. I've still got a spacer on at the moment, would moving to a bike with that head tube be drastically different? Is it really at least a 3cm drop or does the measurements in other areas make up for it?

Yes it's really a 3cm drop plus whatever spacer and headset top cap height you run now. The seat tube on the Dolan is also much longer

remember that being by having a horizontal top tube, the dolan will be markedly different to a lot of the bikes around now which have semi/sloping compact geo, i doubt the carbon frame will have been a HTT so you arent really comparing like for like. its a completely different riding position.

£800 for a sram rival bike is super cheap though, the frameset and drivetrain are worth that much alone.

Based on the Dolan geo chart I'd say that the 60cm is similar enough to your old frame. If I were you I'd give them a call, they'll know what they're talking about.

Hi,

I bought a Preffisio with Rival grouppo last Jan as my training bike and have done about 7000 miles on it.

I am 5 foot 10 and 32 inch inside leg, bought the 54cm. The headtube is small and the top tube slopes down! I run alot of seatpost and have two spacers under the stem with the stem sloping upwards, there is still a big drop from saddle to handlebar height. I had a real toss up between the 54 and 56 but went with the smaller frame for it to handle better.

With the stem/seatpost setup I have the bike fits me perfectly but I could also have made the 56cm fit me.
