Indoor Race Bikes

I'm thinking about purchasing an indoor 'racer' type cycle to help with the winter training.

I would obviously love a Wattbike, but I just don't have the £2k one requires!

Does anybody have any cheaper recommendations? I have been looking at the Kettler Cycle S but there
seems quite a few to choose from.

One thing I'm more concerned about is being able to swap the saddle and peddles. Is this normally possible on these types of bikes?

Why not stick a road bike on a turbo trainer? A tacx genius maybe?

You can get a ribble winter bike for £650. Or a nice CX bike for similar.

Then when the turbo trainer has made you want to top yourself thru sheer boredeom, put a waterproof jacket on and just go for a proper ride anyway!

It's not the weather which is the limiting factor, it's daylight.

I'll still be club riding at the weekend. Just want to substitute my midweek rides.

My only worry with TT's is that I have heard stories about them destroying tyres. Is this the case?
Only having one road bike, I'm a bit concerned about keep putting it on and off the trainer

Buy a cheap rear wheel and a turbo specific tyre.

Yep, turbo specific tyre.

One thing to bear in mind - you typically won't use many gears on a turbo, so bear in mind the potential for uneven cassette and chain wear...
