Well I for once in my life I am a real happy chappy after having my car serviced, some of you may remember that I posted on here a few months ago about where to get my Cayman S serviced, had a lot of people saying independents which I got quotes from but a couple of you said speak to Steven at Mid Sussex OPC, an excellent experience from start to finish, he was almost but not quite as competitive as the quotes I had from the independents but I got the Porsche stamp in the service book, a lovely cup of coffee on delivery and collection, very very helpful/courteous staff, they did not try to rip me off for any extras above what was quoted that did not need doing, and to top it all I got a brand new C2S to play with for the day, and what a car. The big dilemma now is that I have been toying with changing for a Cayman R, but the C2S was fantastic, need to test drive the Cayman R now to see what I think, the C2S had sports chrono, sports mode and sports plus mode, christ only knows where you use sports plus mode, it makes it go like a rocket, put a smile on my face is an understatement. It had the PDK box as well, now I am a true manual man but have to admit after playing with the PDK for a bit you get used to it and it really is great fun.

All in all a fantastic experience from Mid Sussex, thanks guys. The cost of the service was worth it just for having the fantastic courtesy car for the day. biggrin: biggrin: biggrin: biggrin:

My last two visits to OPC Mid-Sussex have resulted in a 991 C2S courtesy car (Guards Red) and Cayman R (white) courtesy car.

Both amazing to drive in very different ways.

Clearly the 991 is the better every day car, the Cayman R the better weekend / track car - which one will suit you best will depend on your priorities!

I vote for James at OPC Tonbridge who is a 'proper chap', old school enthusiast, tries to accommodate my whims with regards loan cars, explains my bill (and even supplies the lubricant). I recently had an incredibly special 24 hours in a 991 and that has really tempted me to finally move from the 997 (which feels as comfortable as an old shoe) and into something as special as the 991. A great established team makes all the difference to the experience and I just feel genuinely valued as a customer to the extent that my own team could learn a lesson for sure and wish that I could send them to 'Porsche School' smile

So it's working then!

I should have said, it was Jeremy that looked after me today, but it was Steven who quoted me in the first place.

Unfortunately Tonbridge lost me as a customer after a poor experience from there sales team although I have to admit that the customer service received by there service team prior to that incident was excellent, I now drive more than twice the distance and almost past Tonbridge to Mid Sussex.

I always deal with the same sales guy at Tonbridge as he's been there for as long as I can remember and looks after me perfectly smile I had a poor experience from a sales guy at Mid-Sussex and that's why I ended up dealing with him in the first place! It just goes to show that it's the individual that gives the lasting impression and one less than satisfactory experience can tarnish a whole dealer.

Yep, couldn't agree more.

Great to see OPC dangling carrots in front of you to change cars smile

Mine is going in for some warranty work soon so hoping to get some good customer care also...

Did you get the 991 delivered to your house and for them to collect your car? If yes can I ask the distance as my nearest OPC is 45 miles away?

Just had my old banger (930) serviced at Bristol OPC for less than my usual specialist I go too, even got a courtesy car (Mini, but I'm not complaining). Big thanks to Tim and his team who treated me well.

Gonna vote for Cambridge OPC myself. Had warranty work done recently and got a Panamera Hybrid, but had asked for a 981S. Mentioned this in my client feedback (still scoring Cambridge 9/10), and Cambridge are lending me a 981S next weekend for the whole weekend. Nice touch.

ETA - sooty - Cambridge must be 30 miles from me and delivered. Is nearly all motorway though.

Well looks like I could have one of your 991 leftovers as I'm getting a loaner this weekend due to my 4 year service. Mid Sussex swap with me half the time and I'm 60 miles away in Canary Wharf.

Can't wait for the weekend...

I asked for a 991 when my 997 GT2 was being serviced, they gave me a Passat, is this the future now VW own everything? frown

Only if you go to an OPC owned by GB. I.e. Mayfair, Guildford, West London, Reading etc

They did offer to come and collect it and drop it back when it was ready (with no loan car), or alternatively drop off my 997 at the dealer, collect the 991 and return it the next day. I chose the latter as I was intrigued by the various 991 feedback in the press and on the forums here. It was 'just' a 3.4 Carrera but I was genuinely impressed by the more than plentiful performance, engine sound, cabin quality and the ability to put a BIG grin on my face. Unlike some, I don't see loan cars as a jolly to be abused (as I wouldn't abuse my own car) and ultimately it has done the trick of making me sit down on the Porsche 991 website car builder tool. Next stage is a sit down with said sales guy and see if we can make it work smile

I similarly had a 991C2S 25 miles on the clock, however as much as I enjoyed this car I will be waiting to get a Gen 3 Cayman S in about 18-24 months time. Based on the experiences of the new 981 it should be a 'good un'

Interesting!

My 997 was bought from Tonbridge OPC and serviced there until recently. At the time I had a letter of intent on a 991 Turbo and a Cajan (as it was called in those days) but when it came for a courtesy car when I was booked in for a service they couldn't provide a 991 as they were in 'high demand' (despite me being flexible on dates).

I called Mid-Sussex OPC who were able to book me in at short notice and who indicated they would provide a 991 as a courrtesy car, even before I requested it.

At the time, I also spoke to their sales people about the 991 Turbo and Macan and was added to their lists. On the sales side they appeared much more pro-active regarding news on the Cajan / Macan whereas I've received zero information from Tonbridge - not even a link to the Porsche announcement about the name change etc.

Tonbridge are much closer to me, but I enjoy the drive to Mid-Sussex and so the next time I need a service or tyres I will call them both and see what they can offer - I'm not avoiding Tonbridge but feel they should do more to look after an existing customer that is considering spending £150k-£180k with them in the next 2-3 years!

If the owner of OPC Tonbridge could read this he'd be spitting feathers.

Dads got the service for the 986 S booked in at Tonbridge soon. Been told we will be getting a Cayman as a courtesy car which is great too. A 991 would be mega, but not expected smile
