Tuscan R(SR)

Tomlinson buys up Tuscan Rs

Dailysportscar.com brings us news that Laurence Tomlinson - owner of race team RSR - has bought the two Chamberlain-Synergy race cars that raced at Le Mans this year.

RSR already own two Tuscan Rs, both in striking orange/bronze colours. Tomlinson also owns a Tuscan R road car. This deal will bring his fleet up to five cars.

The intention is to race his original cars in the British GT series with the wide bodied purple cars racing in the Le Mans Endurance Series, starting with the next round at Spa.

The other cars remaining outside of the RSR fleet are the Synergy car (ex Rollcentre) which may return in British GTs, the Peninsula/Racesport Tuscan R which competes in the LMES and the Eclipse car racing in British GTs.

Really nice chap Lawrence. I was lucky enough to have a ride in his 440R which was great. I wish him all the best for the future and trully look forward to seeing the cars at Le Mans.

The Eclipse car has been omitted from the story above - All in all though this looks like really good news for TVR GT racing fans

Does this mean that The General, Hugh Chamberlain has something else up his sleeve for the 2005 season then, maybe a Viper or 2 (purely speculation)?

I wondered why the LM cars looked so much better. Never realised they were wide bodied before.

Wondered why the purple one was lapping the other one at Silverstone on Saturday, the purple one has a got a definite higher pitch too, still good to see them both start & finish - Was a good day out too.. if a bit spartan on the crowds, but good fun nonetheless

So, any idea how many T400/440/Typhons have been sold??

TVR needs to shift 25 to homologate the car for LeMans, thereby not getting ballast or a smaller restrictor than the Porsches.

That list shows 9 (or which, the two purple ones don't count), I've heard tell of 1 customer car... There must be more than 8 out there, right?? Please tell me that they have sold enough to open them up!

That would be great news if finally they T400R's get a full head of steam at LeMans next year - they were so close to the pace of the Porsches this year with tighter restrictors they could be on fire next year if they shift enough of them.

lucky boy imagine owing 5 T400R's!!

19 sold was the last I heard. I was also under the impression they need to have 20 sales for LeMans but I could be wrong.
If it means not having to run with the stranglers in place, I will gladly buy the 20th/25th one. I have about £15,000 to spare. Wonder if they will bite?? Answers on a postcard please. The second word will be "off".

RSR should benefit from all the hard work done by Bob, Gareth, Bert and co. The cars had much done to them running up to Le Mans and Kane and Hughes proved the speed of the cars at Silverstone.

They need to sell 25 to homologate them for GT class. If they don't, it's 5% restrictor reduction and 30Kg ballast.

They also need to sell 9 road cars/race car entered. If they don't it's another 5% restrictor reduction, and 20 Kg ballast.

So, they have made the second requirement, and are close to the first. I would hazard a guess that losing 50 kilos and gaining 10% on the restrictor will make quite a difference!

These were from the GT class regs. www.lemans.org/univers_sport/reglements/ressources/pdf/auto_2004/regl_lmgt_2004_gb.pdf

Oh, and if they're selling them for 15K to be able to homologate, I'll take all 5! I'm sure my banker would understand!

Gimme 10 at that price! Consider it an investment. I might be able to make enough to buy one and fly over to the UK regularly to drive it.

Of course, to really be successful, they'll have to fly them over to race in the ALMS next year. I wanna see 400Rs at Road America!
