Squier Deluxe Vs Fender Standard MIM.....

Approx £90 extra for the Fender, but teh internetz say the Squier is better built etc etc.

Squier is likely better built; it certainly looks a lot nicer. Most of the cost of the Fender is "brand tax"...

Was my thinking as well. Fender does have staggered tuners and so only has one string tree which is a nice detail touch.

Hmm tis a tricky choice. Probably not much in them tbh. Best bet would be to try one of each out. Are they both made of the same woods?

Spec comparison

Interestingly, the Squier body is Basswood, but no comment for the Fender ?

Squier for me! There isn't much between them I think, but the hardware appears to be better quality in the Squier. Don't know how they differ in playability (neck feel etc). Pickups look to be a bit better in the Squier, being Duncan designed. I expect they'll be similar quality to your Squier Custom tele. I've not played a recent MIM: they're not bad for the money I guess. My mate's MIM HSS strat plays pretty good!

Try both & the one you like better is the winner. The very best guitar in the world is the one you enjoy playing the most.
