Just ordered 5D 170n. Down on the Solent next week so seemed as good a time as any to get one. Must admit, I bought this based on looks, I need a lot of help in that department.

They're not exactly cheap, although I've seen a few discounted recently.

Is the USP with these just better comfort and the larger flotation?

I tried one on a while ago, it was quite comfortable although a few people don't agree. Will see how I get on with it long term.

Having used one in a professional capacity I'm very happy with mine, not had to use it in anger yet but very comfortable, which to me seems the most important thing.

Any BA will meet the safety requirements to keep your airway above water and keep you righted, but if it's not comfy you'll end up not wearing it so it's sitting useless below deck...

I've got one...half price via a promo for RYA instructors.

I really like it, however fully admit to never bothering with the crutch straps as they are a right faff. I was actually just going to modify it to a standard set up...

What's special about the standard crutch straps?

I always use straps, so if they were a PITA it would put me off it - similarly, I like a quick and easy way to adjust the waist belt (due to ever changing weather in the UK meaning constant on off with oilies rolleyes )

Arrived today. Marine Warehouse phoned me on Monday to say that the pro sensor was not in stock, but they could send the Hammar for the same price. Quite happy with that.

Must have a look at these during the boat show.

I've been using an Ocean Safety Kru Sport Professional jacket at work for a few years now and it's been perfect. Very hard wearing, comfortable and acts as a good wind break for my chest on the RIBs.
