Looking for a little bit of help from the Edinburgers.... I'm looking for a venue that I can hold a small meetup/conference at. It needs to be close to Haymarket or Waverly, have a private room with a projector and preferably will be available for free. I'll be bringing along up to 50 people who will be hungry for beer and pizza so hopefully that will be enought to pay our way. Any suggestions of places I should be speaking to?

Try the calton or the balmoral hotels and see what deaks they do on room rental if you have a bar and food. Most places will waive the room hire if they are getting more than the room hire back in other ways.

I dont believe so. You could also try the members house at the zoo, they used to do this sort of thing, whether they still do, I'm not sure.

We've used this place for office quiz nights in the past, although not sure if they have quite enough space for you.

Only 5 minutes walk from Waverley though.

The Balmoral and Scotsman we have used for corporate events, btu again unsure of cost.

For Haymarket, you are close to one of the Apex hotels which has at least one room for hire - there is a Hilton nearby also that I have been to events at.

There are also clubs quite close to the stations - Royal Overseas League, New Club, Royal Scots Club - I know at least the last one has a variety of rooms for hire.

The beehive is a good pub. The food is always good and it has a cracking beer garden. the Its in the grassmarket which is always busy and easy to get to if your walking but there i very little car parking in the grassmarket. All the rooms for hire are upstairs and there is no lift.
