I'm looking to by a car from Edinburgh and the seller needs the space but I can't get there until 26 of this month.
Any recommendations for storage for 2 weeks or so?
Anybody got plenty of space?
Just need to get it off his drive.
Thanks

Yorkie

Perhaps a silly suggestion, but one of the long stay car parks at Edinburgh airport? Though don't shoot me down, unaware if you actually need to be on a flight somewhere or if you can just use them for any long stay purposes.

Or park it up on one of the many car parks at Heriot-Watt Uni. If you park it in one of the student ones, you won't even need a permit.

Just make sure it's taxed as DVLA patrol there quite often...

Alternatively, use the park and ride right next to Heriot-Watt. But if you're doing that, make sure you find a space somewhere near the bus station as otherwise it's a bit isolated.

Might be a bit OTT but there is a company that specialises in car storage just off the Edinburgh bypass.

http://www.carstoragescotland.co.uk/main.htm

To be fair I think they specialise in longer-term storage for collectors, museums etc + storage of cars awaiting restoration where the owners don't have the room for them, but I have used their services several times when I have been abroad on holiday and always been happy with their services. Mark is the man to speak to.

They can even collect the car for you if you are not able to take the car to their premises.

Where is the seller and what's the car? If it's a reasonable residential area and the car isn't too expensive I wouldn't worry about parking it on the road. Actually, you probably don't want to say on the internet if a DBS is going to be parked on Xxxxxxx Avenue for two weeks unwatched!

Tesco Corstorphine has a little bit of their carpark hidden away at the back of the police station. The officers there normally park in it and it's overlooked by the station. I wouldn't think you'd have too much to worry about parking it there.

Nowt wrong with that, just slap any tedious tool that mentions head gaskets to you. biggrin

I park my car off the road in a small parking area in a quiet residential estate, I can keep an eye on it if you want. I'm outside Edinburgh but only a few miles, we're lower on drug dealers and neddy behaviour!

You have someone at this end on hand to park the car up from the seller & deliver it to where its to live for a couple of weeks I presume?

It could sit in a visitors parking type bay at the end of my street in west Edinburgh suburbia without too many concerns. Garage and space outside the house is full with my own junk!

There's room at mine, either on my drive, or there's 4 parking bays right at my front door.

Just outside Edinburgh, quiet residential area. And always someone around during the day.
