996 GT3 vs 997 GT3

I am thinking of adding a GT3 to the toy pool again. Years back I had a Mk1 996 GT3 which I loved, but didn't have time to use, so I stupidly sold This time around I am thinking of getting a 6Mk 2 or a 3.6L 7GT3. Not sure which direction to go, will use for 3 - 4 days of light track play and the odd little run around on our local back roads, so both will be perfect.

Every week I change my mind and do not make any real progress in searching for the right car, which one would you choose?

passive dampers on a 997 or a 996... win win win.

I was very much in your situation earlier this year before my purchase.

I ended up with a 997.1 GT3 because it is a newer car, and I like the design that little bit more. Must admit though, it took me more time to adjust to than my old 996.2 even if it is on passive dampers and with a proper geo.

I have a 996 Mk2 and have thought about going to a 997 but unless its a Gen 2 3.8 I dont see the point.

I agree the 7 looks better, but a well set up 6 is a pretty useful bit of kit
