Can anyone recommend a good autobody shop for me please. My (new to me) E46 M3 is in need of some cosmetics, some awkward places i want treated before winter sets. I based in Aberdeenshire willing to travel if its someone good.

I have new wings for the car, the lower cills section underneath is going near the arch as is the leading edge of the doors and the boot. Sounds terrible, but with winter approaching.

Iain,

As shared this morning via email, his is the shortlist I came up with from a search online last night. I need a front bumper and rear spoiler resprayed for my S2000. I would be interested to here if anyone has experience of any of these places:

Auto Body Shop on Ashley Lane
Castlepark Autobody Ellon
Inverurie Auto Mill
Alan Scott out near Banchory
Stuart Cooper Motors, Fourdon

Agreed, having has work done there in the past, best in town. It's also where Honda send their work. But they are very expensive, have a long waiting list and don't seem too keen on personal work. More money in insurance work I guess!

Town & County send all their cars their, so Honda, Porsche and Land Rover. Quality really is amazing.

My cars going in for insurance work (got rear ended the other night). I went in yesterday to get it assessed, and my book in date is the 18th, so it's a 'tad' busy!

I hate to be 'that guy', but Kinghorn have not been the best in town for me recently. I have used them many times over the years, believing the were the best and initially they were pretty good.

They did some work for me last year, as I was very displeased with the quality. It was rectified on two subsequent visits, but that shouldn't have been the case. They were originally given the car, the request and told to do whatever it takes, regardless of cost and time.

The car also received some minor damage (deep scratches) which I was then told 'must have been there already'. Like hell it was.

I have since taken my business to NE Autobody and feel the quality of the work is far better. The price is a third of Kinghorn too. Having met the OP once briefly, I don't think he wants to spend the sort of money Kinghorn would be charging.

I've no axe to grind, I voted with my feet. Just wanted to provide some balance.

Always good to hear both sides of the table, have spoken to the guys at NE Autobody and they seem to have their heads screwed on.

its like that is it!
This is not for insurance reasons BTW this is work i want to be done for my own purposes, ie my money so i want it to be done once and be done well. ie i would happily pay for a good job. But if its cheap and good then who am i to complain...

Porsche OPC send their cars to Kinghorn - I think that says it all?

They are tied in to a contract so don't have an option, I have spoken to a good few folk recently who have said they have gone downhill. A body shop is only as good as there painters and prep team, if good staff leave then so does the quality.

This thread arrived at the perfect time, my neighbour just scraped my car the other day!

Any other suggestions from anyone?

Had good work done in the past from both the following.

Stuart Scott, Paint Technic, Craigshaw Road in Tullos.

Warren Dunbar, North East Autobody, Ashley Lane in the city centre.

That's the two I'd get quotes from too. Have seen the work of NE Autobody and it was excellent and well priced.

Interesting how prices vary, I got a rough over the phone quote for the exact same description of work required. One was 120 - 160 +vat the other was 240 - 250 +vat.

Think a couple of visits are in order though to get something more accurate.
