Hi everyone,
My S1 is 25yrs old this month, so I'm proposing a little celebratory trip to his birthplace on Sun 30th Sept.
I thought of meeting up for lunch/ refreshments at Owd Nell's / Guy's Restaurant, St. Michael's Rd, Bilsborrow, PR3 0RS.
It's a pleasant venue with good food, not too expensive, & a fair sized car park.

Later we could perhaps have a drive through Blackpool along the front?
I need to check it out with the B'pool Regional TVRCC beforehand, but I'd like an idea of numbers to make any firm arrangements.
I'd like to keep it fairly low key, any TVR would be welcome, subject to limits on numbers attending.
I'd also like to try a raise a bit more for either our SCH Charity or CLIC (Child leukemia )

I'm away on holiday on 17th - 29th Sept, so would like to get something arranged beforehand.

Sorry if it's a bit short notice, but what do you think?

Waiting with interest,
Glen.

I would keep away from the prom. Since its revamp it is constantly grid locked whatever the time of day. Nightmare.

Carsy is correct about the Prom, no go area at the best of times. Took it from a 2 lane each way section in between Central pier and North pier and made it into a bricked 1 lane each way (not that you can tell where the lanes are!) semi pedestrianised road. Massive grid lock on that section now at the first sign of traffic. If its nice weather (or not raining, as the best it has been this summer) this also then causes grid lock around the other streets around the town centre as people try to avoid the prom. It can now take about 25mins to do this short section of the prom.

The Blackpool region meet on the last Sunday of the Month (30th Sept) at a pub just of the M55 J3. I'm sure that if you dropped an email to the RO something could be organised. I.e. Meet at our normal place for club meeting and then go for a drive around North Fylde area and approach Bispham from the North/North East, stopping at the factory. Going down the full prom would really be dependant on the weather and time.

Suppose I better get the car running (hardly been used the last 12mnths).

Glen

I would love to come along but I might not be able to make it. Off to Cornwall tomorrow for a week but will have some internet access.

Cheers
Tony

Thanks Carsy & Russ35 re the massive "improvements" to traffic flow along the prom. I'm sure that will encourage the Illuminations sightseers to stay away in their droves, especially if it should rain. ( Rain? Obviously that's never gonna happen? ) It seems to me the local authority planners are trying to keep tourism away from Blackpool? Did they actually aim straight at their feet when they pulled the triggers?

I digress.
Back O/T, I've just emailed David, Blackpool RO, for his thoughts on this meet, & I'll raise the subject on tues at my club meet to find out if others are interested.

I'll report back here later in the week.

Cheers,
Glen

Pre 80's extravaganza week before but if its a reasonable day (weather wise) for a drive out may come up to join you.
Just got to find a decent route, hammering up the M6 for 2 or 3 hours ain't much fun!

Nothing like as good as that side by side convoy of twenty-odd Tivs heading towards the sunset on the way back from the 'Ring!drivingsmile

How about A449, A442, A49 for starters? It'll be a Sunday, so not too many wagons about.

List so far:
glenrobbo
tinksv8S
Russ35?
Andy Lynch
Phillpot ( weather-dependant )
Turbo Tony ( possibly )

Please add your names if interested.

Ok Guys,
Reporting back as promised, looks like 6 Peeps so far, possibly weather dependant.
I'm off on hols for 10 days, add your names if interested in this jolly, possibly the last before the clocks go back.
I'll check when I return, but it'll be last minute stuff to tie up with the Blackpool Club, and finalise details & times.
C'mon, you know you want to really.smile

I am struggling with a bad shoulder so a long drive wouldn't help - so, regretfully I'll have to give it a miss.

OK Guys,
I'm back from hols in sunny Turkey, and ready for tomorrow's Blackpool run.

I suggest meeting up about 11:30 at Owd Nell's / Guy's as per my original post.
St. Michaels Rd, Bilsborrow, PR3 0RS.

After a bite to eat, we then proceed to join Blackpool TVRCC members after their monthly meet at their new venue, De Vere Village Hotel, Heron's Reach, East Park Drive, FY3 8LL ( near to the zoo ).

Then perhaps we could persuade them to lead us on a little run round the Fylde lanes, via Bispham end to the old factory site at Bristol Ave for photos, possibly parade along the seafront if traffic permits. Then fish & chips & make our way home.

This is the plan, very late I know but I did say it would be last minute.

I'll be there regardless of weather as long as Austin behaves himself.
If anyone wants to arrange a rendezvous en route, post it here.

See you tomorrow? Hope so!
Cheers,
Glen
