Any of you C2W-ers carry a laptop?

Afternoon,

I'm going to need to start carrying a (smallish) laptop to and from work.

Do any of you guys carryone at the moment? What type of bag to you use?

I don't want to break it, and I don't want to consider losing it!!

I don't, but a small tip: back up crucial files on a USB stick and carry that with you too. If the worst happens and the laptop has an accident, the USB stick will be shockproof (because they don't weight anything).

That's no issue - all work is done off a work server, nothing is really stored on the laptop itself.

Due to the nature of my job, if I were to lose it I'd be a deadman.

The breakage thing is just due to the inconvenience really.


I just don't know if the 'laptop specific' messenger bags/rucksacks are worth it...

I do sometimes, use a backpack to carry it.

Breaking it I don't really care about as they will replace it. Losing it would be catastrophic and probably end up in the news...

I do, use a Crumpler backpack which has been good. Fallen off and have been knocked off a few times, laptops have survived.

I have a decent rucksack with a padded section for the laptop and lots of pockets for other bits.

It's ok to ride in, if hot. I wouldn't like to go over the bars, either for me or the lappy.

Rear rack and decent (laptop specific!?) rack mounted bag is the way to go, will be plenty secure and safe enough.

I use one of these which has been brilliant. Not small, but I need to carry a suit and a laptop and it does with ease. On a per use basis has been good (which doesn't get over it being expensive!)

I've got an Altura laptop pannier bag which is very good.

Pannier bag. Plenty of laptop ones to choose from but I used a regular one with an internal compartment.

The only reason I don't do that is that I can use the laptop-specific one as a normal laptop bag when I go for meetings with customers during the day.
