I went to Duxford a few years ago and found it to be over crowded and not the best venue.

I'm heading along on the Saturday (can't wait to see the Vulcan again), not been to Duxford for an air show for a couple of years though I know it's going to be heaving. I'll likely find a perch down the bottom of the airfield near the land warfare hall. As 90% of the action takes place in the air theres no point standing crammed into the fence on the flightline.
After the last couple of shows having been at Old Warden it'll be a little odd going from really close intimacy with the aircraft to being part of a large crowd.

If you see a lonely looking pHer wandering around then give me a wave as I'll be there on my todd frown Used to go regularly with Dad but he passed away last year!!

I remember when you could park in the lane on the south side of the airfield and watch the show for free - and the aircraft would go right over the top of you biggrin

Decisions, decisions:

"Confirmed flying participation includes Vulcan XH558 (Sat only), the Red Arrows (Sun only), the Aerostars, a pair of Tornado GR4s, a flypast of US Air Force F-15E Strike Eagles, a flypast of F-16 Fighting Falcons alongside a pair of de Havilland Vampires, never seen before in the UK (Sun only), two rare replica First World War aircraft and much more."

I think I might go on the Sunday. Although I love the Vulcan, the F-15s & F16s are VERY appealing.

Am definitely going Saturday, as Sunday is the start of the Tour of Britain, otherwise the F16 would have me there as well

Think I'll head down on the Saturday. Recently moved to Cambridge so literally on my door step biggrin

Does anyone know whether there is free parking there?

That still goes on, but you now have to walk rather than drive. Half of Cambridgeshire Constabulary are usually there too enjoying the show!

Don´t let the promise of flypasts sway you too much - if they turn up at all they do just that - fly past and that´s it. Waste of time tbh.

I think there are two Duxford Airshows being discussed on this thread. There are two remaining Airshows:

The Duxford Airshow, 8th - 9th September 2012:

http://www.iwm.org.uk/events/iwm-duxford/the-duxfo...

and

The Autumn Airshow, 14th October 2012:

Your thread title is

"Duxford Airshow 8/9 Sept"

But your first post mentions the participation list for the Autumn Airshow, which is completely different (the Vulcan and Red Arrows aren't attending the Autumn Airshow from what I can see).

Hence the confusion...

Ah, I see, the original link I put up was definately for the september show, and i tried it yesterday and it wouldn't open. I tried it at work and it pulled the September participants list up.

Seems some things may have changed on Duxfords end (?)

Does anyone know the flying schedule for this afternoon yet?

Sorry, but, I would suggest downloading the Duxford App. Although they charged 69p for the schedule, select the airshow from the list, then look up the aircraft toured interested in, and if it's scheduled it's show time is there.

I know the Vulcan is 1410
Tornadoes at 1358
F15s at 1353 (flypast only)
SallyB 1615
