So after a cracking time at the Pistonheads sunday service today and after drooling over so many nice cars I am now looking to purchase a GT3

I am looking at the Gen 2 997 GT3

My current toy is an Exige 260 RGB

What i am hoping you guys can help with are the model specs, what are the must have options etc and any other advice you can offer will be much appreciated...?

The car will be a weekend toy and i will not be tracking the car

My girlfriend approves on the choice so i'm onto a winner! wish me luck!

7.2 GT3 and not the 7.2 GT3RS? Would that not be a better weekend toy?

Axle lift is worth having, and PCM.

I was talking to a chap who had a gt3 in atlas grey which was almost a charcoal grey/black. Is that not a standard colour?

Every one like different options , hence why are called options :-)

Nice Exige btw, was it the one with carbon sides and top front access pannels.

My main options would be leather dash, bucket seats,

Yes that is the one. Thanks for the comments

I think I better do a little digging into options etc as I'm not completely sure what is available to be honest

Which was yours? There were quite a few examples today! All absolutely stunning!

That was me, loved your Exige.

Options to consider:
- buckets (the folding ones are slightly wider)
- leather dash adds a touch of class as recommended by MrDemon
- front lift if you go near any speed humps or for getting onto petrol station forecourts
- dynamic engine mounts
- nav gets you a much nicer radio
- ipod interface
- cage/no cage
- sports chrono dashboard wart

If you're not fussed by the latest dashboard gizmos (e.g. Latest version nav), 20bhp or lift, consider a Gen1 and save yourself £15-20k. It's still a lovely car.

Get a Mk1, any colour you like. put some decent passives on it and some motorsport steels (if it hasn't got them already) then take it to a propper geo specialist for a little sharpening.

That's all you will need

Purely out of curiosity (as I can't afford to swap them at the mo), can you suggest some good passive dampers for road use?

Any decent proprietary Damper. The important thing is that they are supplied and fitted by a company that have proven experience with applying them on a balanced set up. For example Tech 9 will provide and set up Moton, Parr JRZ, JZ/neinmeister KW etc...

You'll be glad to know that i am already on the hunt for a GT3 but although my preference would be a 997.2 GT3 RS I am currently about 2 years from that dream ££££

I have however stumbled across a 997.1 GT3 Comfort, which from what i can see is completely standard. There are a few stone chips on the inside rear part of the wheel arches, is that normal?

It is White with black wheels, 2 owners, 21k miles, year 2007 07' and with a £50k price tag.

Now from the comparisons i have seen, it seems pretty keenly priced or am I on another planet?
