My relay finally gave up today, fortunately I was able to locate a 'get me home' replacement which I had in the cab. ford part foab-14b192-aa readily avalible under the bonnet of most mondeos and fiestas of course useing this part is entirely at your own risk and while it worked for 5 miles happily I wouldn't recommend it long term. Any way I need to work out why it went and my first port of call is to check the earth on the pump itself am I correct in thinking it is behind the nearside rear wheel , what's access like ? Thanks in advance

Remove the NSR wheel, it makes for far better access. Relay could have just failed, they do. I would carry a spare and see how you get on.
