According to Auto Express it seems Alfa Romeo are going to put the gorgeous Italdesign Brera concept car into production in 2004.

Production models will have a tubular spaceframe chassis (the concept car used a version of Maserati's 4200) and possibly a 4.5 litre, 400bhp turbo V8 (a Cadillac unit available due to Fiat and GM's new links)

I'd prefer the production car to run a version of Maserati's V8 (it needs an Italian engine, not a US one) but I just hope they leave the styling alone, as Giugiaro has designed a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned.

Still, hats off to Fiat/Alfa for doing the decent thing.

Arent Alfa Romeo apart of Ferrari?
Cant they not use the V8 from the 355/360 and then put some turbos onto it, didnt Maserati not use the Ferrari engine in one of there new car last year? but with different heads?
How can you have an Italian car with another American engine?
Dose any one remember the other car maker in Italy that used Ameriacan engines to good effect, I cant remember the name and if I did I proberly couldnt spell it right

Fiat own Ferrari, Maserati, Lancia and Alfa...

Wouldn't be the first time a Ferrari angine had found it's way into another marque. The Lancia Stratos had the 246 Dino engine (didn't it?)... seem to recall Enzo insisted that it was detuned a bit, as he didn't want a Lancia as powerful as one of his cars... this it was 5bhp down in the end...

Well, De Tomaso used a Ford V8 to good effect, but I'd rather see Alfa use the Maserati V8.
