On the way to work this morning I got held up by a total tr. It was in the approach road to the car park I use. This is a narrow road with cars parked both sides. A dustbin lorry was coming the other way so myself and 3 others slot into vacant parking spaces to let the lorry pass. The 4th guy.... oh no, the lorry must reverse so I will not. He argued with the lorry driver, the other drivers (excluding me, my Hungarian is not good enough for this) for about 5 minutes and just plain refused to reverse, even though there was a space about 5 meters back. The lorry ended up reversing about 50 meters to the end of the road, only about 15cm clearance each side. I would probably have just set off forwards and driven over him.
Coincidentally he parked in the same car park as me so I strolled over and politely enquired whether this was a new model Renault without a reverse gear. I then further enquired whether he thought it was easier to reverse a lorry in a tight street for 50 meters than to reverse a car for 5 meters. He got a bit red and then I suggested he thought a bit before being a total dd and walked off to my office.
Anybody else got anything similar to share?

I encountered the ultimate d**khead on Wrynose Pass, in the Lakes about 7 or 8 years ago.

At the top of the pass, as I and several other cars, were about to descend into the next valley, our 'queue' halted to allow a few vehicle up from that side (it's kind of single track in parts).

Unfortunately, one of the ascending cars just broke down at this, very steep section, and despite the efforts of their friends/family in another car who got out to try and push, it was not going anywhere.

My car at that time was an Isuzu 4x4, so quite capable, in low ratio, of sorting this out, and being a public spirited kind of mood I decided to jump the 'down' queue to go and tow the stricken vehicle up to the layby at the top of the pass. Someone in another car was lending the guys the use of their 'phone, but even if the nearest tow trusk left immediately, the pass would effectively stay blocked for about 1hr.

Got hitched up to the car and successfully started to tow, in reverse, back upp the pass. Clearly everyone shunted as far out of my way as possible to help (it's not easy towing, in reverse, up a gradient!) until it became apparent that one numpty would not shift.

This guy, an old git in a Citroen BX (I truly hope he's died an unpleasant death by now) just would not shift. I have absolutely no idea why. He did mention that it's illegal to tow in reverse - point taken, but under the circumstances it was that or sit there for an hour. Personally, I think he was a racist ba5tard (the family/group I was helping were Indian).

For once even my girlf' agreed that the threat of physical damage/violence was appropriate, and I told the guy that I'd tear him from the vehicle and move it myself if he didn't shift 'now'. Which worked fine.

Never really had the chance to get this off my chest before (thanks for the opportunity Kevin) and I don't think I'll ever understand the stupidity of the guy.

Digga, you should be ashamed of yourself. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour. An Isuzu 4x4 indeed.....

Company van to be precise!

Shifting excavator buckets & parts in anything 'non-commercial' is no joke.
